LOCAL SCENE PRESENTS: New Years Day!

Everyone, Local Scene is PROUD to present to you:
NEW YEARS DAY!

I first met New Years Day on the set of their music video "Two In The Head, One In The Chest." I became fascinated with the entire band, such amazing personalities and winning attitudes. I spent the entire weekend at their shoot, while the weather wasn't the best... good times were still being had. The weekend was filled with laughs, jokes, words with friends, rick rolling, and milk. My main fascination was with front woman, Ashley Costello. Such a strong and independent woman fronting a rocking group, with catchy melodies and lyrics almost anyone can relate too. Her opening words to us for the first part of the music video were explaining how this e.p. was about being hurt so many times and trading in your heart for a mechanical one, so you can no longer feel pain. As I read through the lyric sheet they gave me, I found myself relating to the music more and more. It's not every day we find an amazing rock group, fronted by a woman. In a world where men mostly dominate, it's a breath of fresh air when I see a female fronting a band, I find myself relating to their music a lot easier. The music kicks in on the set, I was immediately addicted to the music... I couldn't get enough. I found myself trying to find more of their music to listen to. If it was as good as "Two In The Head, One In The Chest," I was DEFINITELY sold. Because not only were they amazing people, that I am truly blessed to have in my life, but their music is amazing and I can thoroughly relate to most of the lyrics.

After the weekend was over, I was determined to attend one of their shows. They were so energetic at the shoot, I just had to see them on stage, performing on a real stage, with tons of room to run around. Their first show I attended was at The Viper Room, on April 21, 2011. It was like the music video, but a thousand times better. I was in shock and awe. It was one of the best shows I ever attended. From that moment on, they became one of my favorite acts to shoot, and to hang out with of course. The second show I attended was their show at The Wire, on April 30, 2011. Each time I saw them, their performance got better. They had so much energy, running around on stage, interacting with each other, as well as the audience. To me, I can't shoot a band unless they have tons of energy on stage, I feel it ruins their image to me if they stand in place, as if their music could make up for their lack of commitment to move around on stage. The last show I attended was their show at The Roxy, on May 9, 2011. There were a few technical difficulties, but the show still went on, and it was better than the last time I saw them.

From the minute I met them, they have continued to rise above the rest. From being named next "Ragged Artist" and landing an entire article in Ragged Magazine, to being signed to Hollywood Waste Records. Today, June 21, 2011, their E.P., "The Mechanical Heart" comes out on iTunes. You can also pick up their E.P., as well as other amazing merch, at their online store here, or catch them on this years Warped Tour, from June 24- July 17. Also, they will be headlining their own tour after their run of Warped Tour, which runs from July 19- July 24.
