Thursday, No Devolución, June 26, 2011

It's a very sad week in the music industry... Yesterday, Thrice calls in a hiatus. Today, Thursday does the same.I for one, am truly devastated by this news. Both bands I grew up listening too. But Thursday, had a bigger impact.

At the beginning of the year, I was fortune to meet Thursday at one of their shows. My friend who introduced me to them happened to know them for a while. It was a bit of a shock, to be sitting down and having a conversation with a band I've listened to since as far back as I could remember. One of them in particular became a dear and close friend to me. After the news of today, I am truly blessed to have met such a wonderful band such as Thursday. I was also very fortunate to see them 3 times this year, before the hiatus.

As I said, I grew up listening to them. Been a fan for about 8 years, and counting. The news hit home pretty hard, but I know they are going to do the right thing. I'm very sad, but I wish them all the luck in the world. So to toast to them, before the holidays, I raise my glass to you, Thursday.

Here is my last set of them, performing on No Devolución, with Taking Back Sunday, at the House of Blues Sunset, on June 26, 2011.

Enjoy.

Thursday announced a North American tour, as well as an Australian tour, to say goodbye to those they can. If you are in the area, please, go show your support and say goodbye to them.
For more information about the tours, as well as their final written goodbye, please visit their official website here: Thursday Official.

LOCAL SCENE PRESENTS: ...Of Bitter Flowers!

Everyone, Local Scene is PROUD to present to you:
...Of Bitter Flowers!

Four score and seven years ago, our fathers brought forth on this continent a new nation- wait! I don't need the Gettysburg address! I just need the Glendale Galleria address!

This story starts off in the pits of the Glendale Galleria. Hot Topic to be exact. My boss at the time was like a big brother to me. Always picked on me, always joked around, and always had advice.

I later found out he has a band, called ...Of Bitter Flowers. Naturally, being his "little sister", I got to see the lyrics as they were being written, they were so beautifully haunting... I desperately wanted to hear them with music.

The music, at best, can be described as gothic and industrial. Lots of blood, hate, betrayal, and black. Haunting and chilling, each song is a story of front man Jules's life. Personal and forward, each song had it's own story, yet they all blended together perfectly. One could say that the band's album, "The Midnight Society," is taken straight from Jules's journal.

...Of Bitter Flowers is composed of:
  • Jules DeRegge- Vocals, keys, programming
  • Justin Madrigal- Guitar, keys, arragement
  • Fadius- Bass

For more info on the band, please check the following links:

"I'll be Wearing Black."

I'm very proud of the music Jules and the rest of the band has made.

Interview with There For Tomorrow

Hey guys, here is our first interview of the summer from Warped Tour!

We caught up with There For Tomorrow, here is what they had to say:

1. How did you come up with the name "There For Tomorrow"? What made you change it from "The Kick Off"?
We were The Kick Off for what seemed like a few milliseconds. We were wrapping up the album that we made as pre-pubescent little teens. Damn, that was 10 years ago.

2. What kind of bands influenced you to start making music?
We all take influence from a huge array of types of music, but there are the stand-out bands that impacted all of us. U2, The Foo Fighters, Coldplay, Jimmy Eat World, Nirvana, etc. I could go for miles with what music we greatly respect, but that's the short list.

3. Your album, "The Verge", was released on June 28 on Hopeless Records, can you tell us a bit about it? What was the inspiration behind the lyrics?
It had been 2 years since we put out our previous album & within that time we have reached some great milestones in our career. We began to travel to different parts of the world that we never fathomed & began really understanding our roles in this band. Our fans have really helped us understand why the music we create is important. With this record we went in the studio with no pre-conceptions, but tons of inspiration. You can really tell we stripped all our worries and just let our instincts take the reigns. Being on "The Verge" is about embracing yourself for who you are no matter what circumstances stand in your way. Much of the lyrical content is a stream of consciousness of all the emotions that had been pent up in me, whether it be about our experiences as a band or my personal outlook on things.

4. Who were you most excited to see perform at Warped Tour? Who do you think we should know about and check out?
The Acacia Strain & Moving Mountains.

5. What are your plans for after Warped Tour?
We are announcing a fall US tour in the near, near future so stay tuned!

6. Any last words, or anything else you'd like to add?
Of course, we send our respects & appreciation to those who've undyingly supported us over the years. We have so much up our sleeves, so the dedication will pay off. Thank you! therefortomorrow.com <http://therefortomorrow.com>

We want to thank There For Tomorrow for their time, we hope you enjoy the interview!
