Interview with Get Scared, HK Pizza Party Tour

Our interview with Get Scared on their new album, the departure of Nick Matthews, and their current tour.

L.A.S.S. PHOTO: In November of 2011, Nick Matthews parted ways with the band and about a month or so later, you announced that Joel Faviere, former singer of Dear Chandelier, was taking Nick's place. How did you guys decide on choosing Joel? Did you guys have any other potentials?
GET SCARED: It was very easy choosing Joel once we heard his voice and the music he was writing. It was exactly what we wanted! There were tons of kids submitting videos to try out for our band, there were some really talented ones! But once we found Joel we had to have him!

L.A.S.S. PHOTO: In May, you started recording for your new album, "Build for Blame, Laced with Shame", with producer Erik Ron. He seems to be the "go to guy" in Hollywood as of late. What can you tell us about your experience with him? Why did you guys decide on having him produce your album?
GET SCARED: It was a pretty easy decision to make. We've been friends with Erik for a few years now! He helped work with us on our first album "Best Kind Of Mess" ... We worked together beautifully, we both love a lot of the same bands, we are fans of the music he creates and he's a fan of ours. Needless to say it was extremely fun and we cant wait for more!

L.A.S.S. PHOTO: Your new album, "Build for Blame, Laced with Shame", came out on August 28 on Grey Area Records. How will this record differ from the last? What can fans expect from this album?
GET SCARED: With a new singer it definitely differs a lot! Also as time has gone on we have evolved as musicians. We are still and always will be connected to our roots with the heavy theatrical feel but these songs are different than what Get Scared fans are used to from "Best Kind Of Mess". The lyrical content is definitely more deep and sung with extreme conviction in catchy melodies. The music is darker and heavier. We are very proud of these songs and are excited for everyone to hear them!!

L.A.S.S. PHOTO: In September, you start the "HK Army Presents: The Pizza Party Tour" with Dead Rabbitts and Rob the Cartel. How excited are you guys to be a part of this tour? Have any tricks up your sleeves?
GET SCARED: Extremely excited!!  We couldnt be happier to be on the road with some of our best friends! but yea no tricks, just going to be pouring our hearts out on stage and loving every second of it!

L.A.S.S. PHOTO: Anything you would like to add, any last thoughts?
GET SCARED: We cant wait to start constantly touring and play all these new songs live for everyone!! We love all our fans with all our hearts!  So thankful for all our fans that has never left our side!  If you come to a show and you see one of us walking around, do not hesitate to stop us and talk to us!
